Refrigerator Spin Art

Spin Art- arial view

My daughter Bijou and I made framed art with a crusty old spin art spinner that we bought at Michael's a few years ago.  The machine doesn't look pretty anymore because it's covered in paint but the thing has paid for itself over and over again with the priceless entertainment it has provided our kids.  Then we framed the spin art and put magnets on the back of it to hang on our refrigerator. Starting out with a small bit of fuscia. Lifting the lid and checking progress. More colors!     Arial view of Spin Artist in action!  As you can see, we need to repaint our deck.  It's on the list to be done this summer....along with fixing everything else in the house! More PAINT! Good job Bijou. hmmmmmm....I'm getting bored.   Side view!   Spin Artist!   Finished spin art. I had these frames from when my oldest daughter was a baby and I printed out fairies and framed them.  Now … [Read more...]

Happy Mother’s Day

Bowie Baby

Happy Mother's Day Moms! Time goes so fast.  It seems like in the blink of an eye, I was in the hospital having my daughter Crescentia and now she will be 9 years old in June.  I remember the moment the nurse put her in my arms and remember thinking that it was the happiest moment of my life.  Nothing had ever come close to the feeling I had at that moment because it was the moment I became a Mom and at that moment that the nurse put her in my arms, she placed a part of my soul in my arms. That's why I love this quote: Making a decision to have a child--it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.  Elizabeth Stone It's so true.  My kids are my heart and soul.     My stepsons, Ethan and Dave, Daddy holding baby Bowie and me holding Crescentia- 2007.   The first time Mom.  Baby Crescentia and me-2004. Sensi- Before and After. :) My little boy Bowie- 2007.   Bowie- … [Read more...]

Costa Rica- Playa Flamingo

Playa Flamingo

On our sixth day in Costa Rica we drove north from Molly's house (near Playa Negra) to Playa Flamingo. Here is a map showing where Playa Flamingo is on the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. Here is what I wrote in my journal: *********** Costa Rica- Day 6: We woke up and had breakfast and started out on our drive to Playa Flamingo.  It was really rainy so we turned off at Tamarindo and went to the gas station first, eastward.  There are very few gas stations and the closest one to where we were staying was about 1/2 an hour away so we had to plan when and where we would get gas.  It was still raining so we looked for a restaurant in our guide book but it was closed down.  We kept thinking we missed it and drove to Playa Flamingo and then back to Playa Concha but couldn't find it . So we went back to Playa Flamingo and decided to swim before finding somewhere to eat.   The waves were crazy and most of the people were out of the water but a few were in. My stepsons, … [Read more...]

Costa Rica- Playa Tamarindo

playa tamarindo

On our 5th day in Costa Rica we went to Playa Tamarindo.  This is what I wrote in my journal: *********** Costa Rica- Day 5 We left at 9:00am because Molly's housekeeper was coming and drove to Playa Tamarindo. Tamarindo is a small city so the beach is much more populated than any of the others we had been to.  Playa Tamarindo would probably have been one of my favorite beaches because there are cool beach restaurants where you can have lunch and drinks at tables in the sand but the part that was unappealing was that their were drainage pipes from the town that went right into the beach water every couple of hundred feet. The beach was beautiful but the water was very murky and had a lot of debri in it. It was very overcast and the water was pretty rough for swimming.  I guess that's why it's a great beach for surfers.  We saw a lot of surfers.  We first sat in an area that all the surfers were at and near drainage pipes.  A creepy guy was there and kept moving near … [Read more...]

Costa Rica- Playa Callejonas

Map of Playa Callejonas

On our 4th day, it was Bowie's 4th Birthday!  We went to Playa Callejones. (You can also see where we stayed here and what we did on day 2 in Playa Negra and day 3 in Playa Avellana.  Here are maps showing where we stayed in Costa Rica.) Playa Callejones is approximately where I have circled it in red on the map below:   This is what I wrote in my journal: *********** 7/11/2011 Today is Bowie's 4th Birthday! Today is Bowie's 4th birthday!  We woke up and went to the supermarket in Juanquialal. It was small but they have pretty much anything you would get in the United States.  We bought a bunch of food and ingredients for dinner. Then we went back home and the kids went swimming in the pool and after lunch we went to the beach at Callejonas. It was rainy but when the tide went out it was less wavy and we swam and played in the water for a few hours. We also collected sea shells. It was pretty overcast but a beautiful isolated beach with more … [Read more...]
