Beet, Arugula, and Red Quinoa Salad Ya know what, I just wanted to write about my Beet, Arugula, and Red Quinoa Salad but instead I had to go for a run and am now sitting here with soaking wet feet.  I was just out in my yard after taking the kids to school and I looked down at my phone and looked up and my dogs were gone.  Seriously, in that amount of time.  So I did the thing I do every time this happens and in a split second automatically went through the list of pros and cons of owning two small yappy dogs and came up with the same results I do every time: 1)  They are my responsibility and they are now at this moment probably annoying the hell out of some other innocent neighbor by yapping at them in their yard; 2) The kids will be very upset if they come home from school and we no longer have dogs; 3) Ah okay, deep down I do love them because they are innocent and sometimes sweet and I have owned them since they were babies.  So I ran across  a few lawns of soaking wet grass and … [Read more...]

Strawberry Vanilla Yogurt Smoothie

Here we are today with my daughters, Sensi and Bijou, who are going to show you how to make very tasty Strawberry Vanilla Yogurt Smoothies.   First they had to break out the cooking ninja moves to prepare.   There is going to be some serious ninja power in these smoothies! Okay here are your ingredients super ninja chefs! This makes 2 servings 12 frozen strawberries 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt 3 teaspoons white sugar 1 & 1/2 cups crushed ice Directions: In a blender combine strawberries, milk, vanilla yogurt, sugar and ice.Blend until smooth.  Pour into glasses and serve. Now Sensi and Bijou are slowly but deliberately adding the strawberries. Now adding milk with precision. Adding some sugar.... Adding vanilla yogurt.   Crushed ice is in and ready to blend. Granola with Berries, Dates, and Nuts. Whole Grain and High Protein with Antioxidants Ingredients:   4 cups of old-fashioned rolled oats 1/2 cup slivered almonds 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds 1/4 cup pine nuts 1/2 cup crushed pecans 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter 1/3 cup of honey 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1/2 cup of chopped dates 1/2 cup of dried cranberries, cherries, or blueberries or a combination of all three       Directions: 1. Acai Berry Green Iced Tea with Mint and Mixed Berries   This is easy and good for you, packed with antioxidants!   Ingredients:   12 cups water   1/2 cup of fresh mint   2 cups of frozen mixed berries   6 acai berry tea bags   4 green tea, tea bags   Sugar to taste- optional   Directions:   1. Bring water to boil.   2. Add tea bags and boil for 10 minutes.   3. Put frozen fruit and mint leaves in pitcher.   4. Remove tea bags from tea and pour tea into pitcher.   Tips-   1. With no sugar- Serve over ice.   2. With Sugar- I think it tastes the best by pouring the tea into a glass, adding 2 teaspoons of sugar, stirring and lastly adding ice.   3.
